Challenge

Create a cohesive user interface for a life-coach website that embodies the client’s ocean-inspired vision. The design must strike a balance between approachability and trustworthiness while reflecting the client’s values of guidance, clarity, and personal growth.

Goal

Deliver a polished and motivational website design that enhances the client’s digital presence through thoughtful branding, custom illustrations, and intuitive layouts. The final design should inspire visitors and communicate the client’s expertise in life coaching.

Solution

Perform a heuristic evaluation on the two pages being built (home and about), create assets for new theme, and redesign pages to have a cohesive, ocean-theme.

*Client's personal information has been redacted, filler text is used in most cases.

Navigating the Foggy Waters

The original design was "lost at sea"…

The design for the original landing page and about page had an overall good structure, "good bones" if you will. However, it lacked cohesion.

Land Ahoy!

It's smooth sailing ahead!

Sometimes, all it takes is a little clarity and direction. I pulled out the lighthouse and centralized the rest of the design to it. I then created new assets to accompany it and make the website more custom.

Adjusting the Sails

Lessons learned to navigate even smoother waters next time…

  • It's important to know your client and their brand vision directly

  • What you can design and what can be implemented varies, and that's okay

  • Sometimes, more is more!

  • Working with an engineer who understands design is very helpful

  • Don't be afraid to try something new

  • Auto-layout is your best friend
